Worcester Lions Community Football Club is an FA Standard Chartered Club and has been running since 2004. Our aim is to help children gain confidence and improve their football skills in a fun environment. We encourage children of all abilities and ages to participate and join in structured football sessions from FA qualified and CRB checked football coaches. We hold training sessions every Saturday morning (during term times) for children (girls and boys) age 3 to 10. We ARE looking for more players! Please contact us for information!
We have the following registered football teams in Season 2011/12:
Worcester Lions Colts (Year 5 - Mercian Festival Junior Football League Under 10 Div 2) Worcester Lions Rangers (Year 5 - Mercian Festival Junior Football League Under 10 Div 2) Worcester Lions Gunners (Year 4 - Mercian Festival Junior Football League Under 9 Div 1) Worcester Lions U8's (Year 3 - non-competitive fixtures) For younger children: Worcester Lions Community Saturday Project run by Zig-Zag Coaching (Year 2 (U7's) and younger- Perdiswell Leisure Centre) The teams also have matchdays on Saturday mornings and midweek training sessions.
Year 2 (U7's) and under coaching sessions take place for 1 hour, currently indoors at Tudor Grange Academy . Times: Pre-school and Reception : times 9.00am -10.00am, Year 1 9.00am -10.00am, Year 2s 10.00am -11.00am During the outdoor season times are between 10 and 11am on Saturday mornings on the astro-turf pitches at Perdiswell Leisure Centre in Worcester.
For Year 3 (U8's) and over we train at Perry Wood Primary School (Saint Albans Close, Worcester WR5 1PP), 6:30-7:30PM midweek, 10AM Saturdays.
Whilst we operate at the school, we are not connected to it and are open as a club to ANY child who is interested. Up to Year 1 children are all indoors, and at present all Year 2 children are outdoors, however we are dependent on the weather so urge parents to bring both boots, trainers and warm clothing. Worcester Lions Community FC will always be here for any child who does not wish to move to a team and any child who does leave us is more than welcome to rejoin. The emphasis on our club is for each child to participate but have FUN!!. If you/your child is interested we would be delighted to see you. Simply turn up any Saturday morning and we will get your child registered and he/she can join in straight away. It costs £2.50 for each session per child towards the cost of running the club. WLCFC are running a Holiday Club combining Football and Multi-sports over the June Half term for 3 days Wednesday 6th - Friday 8th June @ Perrywood School , Ronkswood. We can confirm that we have been given extra support to help families who may be on Low incomes, Those families will be able to attend the project at a reduced cost of 50% on the 3 day cost of £25.00, meaning a child can attend for only £12.50 for the 3 days. (This reduction only applies to the 3 days not the daily rate). Evidence of Working Tax Credit Award/ or Single Parent Award, required at time of booking. Worcester Lions Community Coaching Scheme at Perdiswell is now Charter Standard Approved! You can now collect Tesco for Schools and Clubs Vouchers for Worcester Lions Community FC Saturday Project and Teams! Give to your Coach! Worcester Lions U10 teams graced the hallowed turf of St Georges Lane on Sat 03/03/11. Rangers and Colts played on the Worcester City pitch before leading City and Boston Utd out before the match. We are forming a new U8's (Year 3) team to play in local non-competitive league for season 2011/12 beginning in September 2011 on Saturday mornings as well as an U9 (Year 4) team and 2 U10 (Year 5) teams. But we do need more players!!!Please contact us!
